Whether you need something fast between rounds or a sit-down meal to unwind, the area around Lincoln Hospital has plenty of delicious choices worth trying. Here is a list of our favorite restaurants for lunch near Lincoln Hospital.

1. La Isla Cuchifrito
276 E 149th Street

This Puerto Rican restaurant serves up generous portions of traditional island confort food — think roasted pork, stewed chicken and hearty rice dishes. They also have options for cuchifritos like orejitas, cuajitos, lengua and morcilla. The cafecito is also amazing. You can order to go or take a seat at the diner-style bar for a sit down meal.

2. KN Bakery
231B E 149th Street

This little bakery is great for sandwiches and coffee. They have a variety of lunch options, from Cuban sandwiches to a classic bacon, egg and cheese. There are a few seats and a counter to dine-in, but the it’s mostly set up as a to-go spot. They also have a wide-variety of freshly baked cakes and cookies, if you have a sweet tooth.

3. Cafe Royal
553 Walton Ave

This family-owned diner offers almost everything you could want: burgers, salads, sandwiches, pasta. We are big fans of the shrimp in a basket and the triple decker sandwiches. It’s a cozy place to sit down, talk with friends and enjoy a meal with a steaming cup of coffee.

4. Merryland Buffet
325 E 149th Street

If you’ve walked down 149th Street, between Courtlandt and Morris Avenues, you know their siren song: “Merryland Buffet, all you can eat, check it out!” Although there is another buffet directly across the street from the hospital, we recommend the half-block walk to Merryland. This is one of the cheapest buffets in the city. Last we checked, you can fill an entire to-go container for $8 and it comes with a free soda and banana. Although the food isn’t the tastiest on the list, it is the go-to spot when you are really hungry and want to eat cheap.

5. Franco’s Deli
603 Courtland Ave

This family-owned deli recently relocated to Courtlandt Avenue, making it more of a hike to reach from the hospital. We still recommend making the journey. The new storefront is bigger than their old location, making it ideal to sit down and enjoy your lunch. Our favorites are the steak sandwich with everything or the Gatsby. But you really can’t go wrong here.

6. Tacos El Torito Versatile
608 Melrose Ave

There are a ton of Mexican restaurants around Lincoln Hospital. This one is our favorite. They serve up some of the best tacos in the Bronx — and for $2 each, it’s a real steal. The tortas also hit the spot during lunchtime. This restaurant is furthest from the hospital, but you must check it out if you are in the area often.

Hope you’ve found some new food options to check out for lunch near Lincoln Hospital.
