Tenants can sign up now for the city’s first-ever Bronx Rental Ripoff Hearing, part of a series of public hearings hosted by Mayor Zohran Mamdani to give tenants a direct platform to share their housing experiences with city officials and help shape future policy.

Under an executive order signed by Mamdani, the Rental Ripoff Hearings will travel through all five boroughs so renters can speak one-on-one with senior officials about issues like unsafe conditions, hidden fees, unresponsive landlords and unfair rental practices. The testimony gathered will help guide city housing policy and enforcement efforts.

“You can’t fight for tenants without listening to them first. That’s why we’re launching Rental Ripoff Hearings in all five boroughs—bringing together renters to speak directly about what they’re facing, from hidden fees to broken tiles and unresponsive landlords,” said Mayor Mamdani in a press release. “What tenants share at these hearings won’t lead to empty promises. Their testimony will guide our work and help shape the policies we advance to build a city New Yorkers can afford to call their home.”

If you’ve experienced high rents, surprise fees, unsafe or deteriorating living conditions, or other housing concerns, these hearings offer a chance to be heard by the people shaping housing policy across the city.

For Bronx residents, the hearing is scheduled for: Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Fordham, The Bronx. Details about the exact location will be revealed closer to the hearing date.

How to sign up:

Tenants are encouraged to pre-register online through the official NYC rental ripoff page so they can secure a spot to testify in person.

Even if you’re unable to attend in person, the city has made provisions to submit your story online, so your experiences can still be included in the record.

With this initiative, Mamdani’s administration hopes to bring Bronx renters and city leaders together to address common housing challenges and pursue lasting solutions.
